The underside should be inspected and cleaned as required. Loose rust, mud, oil leaks and damaged coatings can affect adhesion and coverage.

New vehicles can benefit from early protection before heavy corrosion develops. Used vehicles may also be treated, but existing rust cannot simply be erased by spraying over it.

Will undercoating stop existing rust?

It may help slow exposure when properly prepared, but it does not restore metal already weakened by corrosion.
